I am an American citizen, I was born here. I am educated. I have gone to two reputable business schools yet I am un-employed. When I was a child I was told if you do well in school then you can be anything you want to be when you grow up. If you go to college, you can live the American dream. The American dream meaning being able to buy a house and live comfortably if you worked hard enough.
What has happened to our America? Going to college means being saddled with student loans that can follow you for years with interest accruing making it almost impossible to pay off. When the student gets a degree they are not getting jobs. They are working at McDonalds and Walmart if they are even hired. I know a friend who is a pharmacy technician who went to school for two years and got drug tested for a $9.00 an hour job. Yet Congress is making $175,000 a year yet would not extend unemployment.
Congress has had 6 years to do something to change the course of our economy, yet like children would rather win the fight then help the people. Are not we the people? Did not we the people elect them to fight for our best interests? How about a working wage? Equality for women. Help for the poor areas where the children have no other way but crime. Maybe we could have more community centers.
I am not in agreement all the time with President Obama but I was brought up to respect our president. He has not gotten the respect from day one. We the people have to get more involved. I have no job, no car. Sounds sad right? Well I have a roof over my head, I saved my cat Shiloh. I have my family and friends and I have a vision.
Why not help one person today? Give them a coat, a few dollars, a hug. I will do my part if you will do yours.
I Believe in God so I always have hope but there are a lot of people out on the streets that your help will be the only hope they have.
Let's be what John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King envisioned America to be. We should be of service. We should honor our soldiers. Let's start today.
